These types of materials cannot be borrowed:
There are several ways to place a request depending on the type of material you need.
May I Renew Loans?
ILLiad: You may request a renewal within your ILLiad account prior to the due date, but not all items will be renewable. If you still need a renewal after the due date has passed, please email interlibraryloan@southernct.edu and we will attempt to accommodate you.
How Do I Renew?
ILLiad: Log into your ILLiad account and use "View/Renew Checked-out Items".
What If I Wait Until After The Due Date?
ILLiad: Email your renewal request to interlibraryloan@southernct.edu or call the Interlibrary Loan Office at 203-392-7038. If the item can't be renewed, you'll be sent a recall notice via email. Otherwise, after a day or two, check your ILLiad account for the new renewal date issued from the lending library.
What If I Have An Overdue Item?
ILLiad: You will receive an email overdue notice the first week the item is due. After another week you will be sent a second overdue notice. A final overdue notice will be sent on the third week and your ILLiad account will be BLOCKED until the item has been returned. Overdue fines from the lending library and/or replacement costs will be charged to your college account.
What if I Damage or Lose an Item?
ILLiad: users are responsible for all ILL materials in their possession, and for replacement costs for materials damaged or lost while in their possession. Replacement costs are determined by the lending library, and often include a processing fee.
How Do I Keep Track of Items I Have Ordered?
ILLiad: Log into your ILLiad account and use "View/Renew Checked-out Items".
Items borrowed through Interlibrary Loan may not be put on Reserve or borrowed for group use.
Since Interlibrary Loan is a courtesy, the requester takes full responsibility for the item borrowed and must observe restrictions the lending library may impose.

The copyright law of the United States (Title 17, United States Code) governs the making of photocopies or other reproductions of copyrighted materials.
Under certain conditions specified in the law, libraries and archives are authorized to furnish a photocopy or other reproduction. One of these specified conditions is that the photocopy or reproduction is not to be "used for any purpose other than private study, scholarship, or research". If a user makes a request for, or later uses, a photocopy or reproduction for purposes in excess of "fair use", that user may be liable for copyright infringement.
This institution reserves the right to refuse to accept a copying order if, in its judgment, fulfillment of the order would involve violation of copyright law.
