ELECTRONIC RESERVES THE BASICS
- Go to the library’s
“CONSULS” web page (www.consuls.org)
- The bottom, right hand
corner of the page will say, “ Course Reserves”
- Click the link that says,”
Search by Instructor”
- Type in professor’s
name, ex: “Demonstration”
- Go to the electronic
version, ex: TEST100-ELE
- You will now see a list
of the documents put on electronic reserve by your professor
- Click on the title that
you want to view
- A screen will come up
and ask you for your ID Number. Use the red eight-digit number on the front
of your student ID. You will then be asked for your library PIN. You can establish
a PIN from the Consuls page. If you forgot your PIN contact the circulation
desk at 392-5756 and we will delete your PIN. Remember to create a new PIN.
- Electronic Reserves will
now bring up the full-text of the article or document
- If you want to access
more than one title without logging in each time, go to the “helpful
hints” listed below.
HELPFUL HINTS:
- Adobe Acrobat needs to
be installed on your computer in order to view any full-text material. The
7.0 version of Adobe Acrobat is recommended.
- If you will be looking
at more than one title go to the Consuls link “login to your library
record” located under Library Services. You will be asked to provide
your ID & PIN number. Click on “search the catalog” and follow
the steps listed above to access electronic reserves without repeating the
ID and PIN number.
- Enlarge or reduce the
document size by clicking on the + or ¬ - Icon. Use the rotation icon
if the document is up side down or sideways on the page.
ATTENTION
MAC USERS:
MacOS X users should know
that some reserve readings/(PDF files) do not
work correctly with the Safari Browser. This browser by default opens PDF files
in a program called Preview. To fix this problem go to http://www.acrobat.com
and select “?get Adobe Reader?”. Follow the instructions and then
restart
your browser. Your documents should now open in Acrobat rather than
Preview.
